The Notre Dame girls’ track and field team claimed a hard-earned 84–66 victory over Wilson in Tuesday's meet, thanks to a balanced team effort that combined distance dominance, strong relay performances, and standout results in the field.
Junior Samantha Karwacki led the charge with a thrilling win in the 800 meters, edging Wilson’s top runner at the line with a time of 2:24.56. Karwacki also anchored Notre Dame’s first-place 4x400 relay team, joining forces with Ella Schweitzer, Violet Dewalt, and Emily Lessig to clock a winning time of 4:12.84.
Brenna Hammerstone continued to impress in the distance events, cruising to victory in the 1600 meters (5:27.16) and placing fourth in the 800. Schweitzer added a fifth-place finish in the 400 (1:06.22) and was a key leg on both the 4x400 and 4x800 relay, where she, Karwacki, Riley Boyle, and Josephine Hobbie finished second (10:33.52).
In the field, Evelyn Hersh swept the shot put (34-02.00) and discus (111-07), while senior Sarah Zambo backed her up with second in the shot put and third in the discus. Jenna Petrik chipped in a second-place finish in the javelin (74-05).
Notre Dame’s high jumpers made their mark, with Schweitzer clearing 5-01.00 for second, and freshman Dewalt tying for third at 4-11.00. Ava Coulter also cleared 4-07.00 to help sweep points. In the sprints, Mia Steirer placed fifth in the 200 meters (27.66), while the 4x100 relay team (Coulter, Perrucci, Cemelli, Steirer) finished third.
