Girls Track Fall in Competitive Meet at Southern LeHS

Notre Dame girls’ track team showed grit and standout individual performances against a deep Southern Lehigh squad on Tuesday afternoon. Despite falling 101–49 in the team score, the Crusaders walked away with several top-three finishes across the board.
On the track, Emily Lessig placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 13.2 seconds and later stepped up in the 400 meters to grab second place in 1:01.9. The middle-distance crew had a strong showing as Ella Schweitzer claimed first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:26.6. Schweitzer was also part of the dominant 4x400 relay squad, teaming up with Savina Steele, Samantha Karwacki, and Josephine Hobbie to win in 4:38.1.
In the distance events, Brenna Hammerstone had a breakout day, earning two wins by cruising to victory in the 1600 meters (5:38.5) and returning later to take the 3200 meters in 12:36.4. Karwacki also added a third-place finish in the 800 meters (2:29.1), while Talia Fogel, Alivia Rieland, and Nina Ciccarelli contributed solid efforts in the long-distance events.
The Crusaders found more success in the field. Schweitzer placed second in the high jump at 4-11, tied with freshman teammate Violet Dewalt, who also contributed in the 300 hurdles. In the throws, Evelyn Hersh dominated the shot put (32-11.5) and discus (102-8), claiming first in both events. Sarah Zambo also placed second in the shot put (31-05.25) and fourth in the discus.
In relays, Notre Dame also took first in the 4x800, as Schweitzer, Hobbie, Karwacki, and Riley Boyle combined for a time of 10:44.4.
