Notre Dame girls' track and field team put on an exceptional performance against Saucon Valley, earning victories in several events.
In the sprints, Mia Steirer finished strong in the 100-meter dash, securing second place with a time of 13.52 seconds, while Angelina Perrucci followed closely behind in fourth place at 13.83 seconds. Perrucci had an impressive comeback in the 200-meter race, claiming first place with a time of 29.60 seconds, narrowly edging out her teammate Steirer, who placed second at 29.96 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, Ella Schweitzer led the team with a dominant first-place finish in 1:04.13, while Emily Lessig secured second place with a time of 1:05.23.
Notre Dame’s distance runners also put forth a strong effort, with Brenna Hammerstone leading the way in the 800-meter run, finishing first in 2:35.19. She was followed by Riley Boyle in second place at 2:52.02 and Giana Garis in third at 2:58.16. In the 1600-meter event, Nina Ciccarelli placed second with a time of 6:34.40, just ahead of Mia Uliana, who took third at 6:35.88. The team continued to shine in the long-distance events as Talia Fogel secured a second-place finish in the 3200-meter run, crossing the finish line in 13:49.82.
In the hurdles events, Greta Guroff delivered a solid performance, finishing second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.79 seconds. Violet Dewalt showed her strength in the 300-meter hurdles, taking first place in 56.38 seconds. Notre Dame also excelled in the jumping events, as Ella Schweitzer tied for first place in the high jump by clearing 4 feet, 9 inches. Dewalt added to the team’s success by finishing third in the same event, clearing 4 feet, 7 inches. Meghan Maslonka had a strong showing in the long jump, placing second with a leap of 13 feet, 3 inches, and also took second in the triple jump with a mark of 25 feet, 10 inches.
The field events proved to be another area of strength for Notre Dame. Evelyn Hersh was dominant in the throwing events, winning the shot put with an impressive throw of 32 feet, 10 inches, and also securing first place in the discus with a throw of 109 feet, 11 inches.
Notre Dame’s relay teams also made an impact, with the 4x400-meter team, consisting of Emily Lessig, Josephine Hobbie, Sharon Turley, and Violet Dewalt, capturing first place with a time of 4:41.91. Unfortunately, the 4x100 relay team was disqualified. Despite the setback, the girls' team put on an outstanding performance across multiple events and showcased their depth and talent.
