The Notre Dame girls track team delivered a dominant performance, securing a commanding 107-42 victory over Palisades yesterday at Walter T. Rohrer Stadium. The team excelled across multiple events, showcasing their speed, endurance, and field event prowess.
In the sprints, Emily Lessig led the charge by winning the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.2 seconds and later claimed another victory in the 400-meter dash, clocking 1:01.6. Meghan Maslonka impressed in the 200-meter dash, taking first place in 29.0 seconds, while Bella Cemelli secured third in the same event with a time of 29.4 seconds.
The distance events saw Brenna Hammerstone dominate, winning the 800-meter run in 2:26.5 and the 1600-meter run in 5:52.9. Josephine Hobbie and Riley Boyle contributed valuable points by finishing second and third, respectively, in the 800-meter run. In the 3200-meter run, Alivia Rieland and Talia Fogel secured a one-two finish with times of 14:00.4 and 14:04.1.
The Notre Dame hurdlers put on a strong performance, led by Greta Guroff, who won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.4 seconds, followed by Nadia Ali, who placed second in 18.7 seconds. Violet Dewalt earned a podium finish in the 300-meter hurdles, placing third with a time of 52.8 seconds.
In the relays, Notre Dame's 4x400-meter team of Samantha Karwacki, Ella Schweitzer, Emily Lessig, and Brenna Hammerstone secured a dominant win with a time of 4:21.8. The 4x800-meter team also claimed victory, finishing in 11:15.2.
The field events were another area of strength for Notre Dame. Violet Dewalt won the high jump, clearing 5-04.00, while Alivia Rieland tied for first in the pole vault, reaching 6-06.00. Meghan Maslonka took first place in the long jump with a leap of 14-04.00, and Dewalt added more points with a second-place finish at 13-05.00.
The throwing events saw Sarah Zambo take first in the shot put, throwing 31-04.50, while Evelyn Hersh dominated the discus throw, winning with a mark of 108-06. Charlotte Morrissey and Zambo rounded out the podium with second and third-place finishes. In the javelin throw, Brielle Heater finished second with a mark of 64-09.50, and Randyll Rionda and Shayla Delgado tied for third with 63-00.50.
