In a dramatic season finale, the Notre Dame softball saw their lead slip away late in a tough 4-3 loss to Tamaqua on Friday, concluding their 2025 campaign.
Notre Dame jumped out to an early lead with an RBI single from Addison Ryan in the first. Ryan continued to shine at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with all three of the Crusaders’ RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in the third and a go-ahead single in the fifth.
Despite solid pitching from Emily Szczepanski—who went 5.2 innings allowing only three earned runs—Tamaqua rallied in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of run-scoring singles to take a 4-3 lead.
Notre Dame tallied seven hits on the day but couldn’t find the big hit late to tie it up. The Crusaders fought hard in a back-and-forth battle but ultimately came up just short. Though the season ends on a heartbreaking note, the team showed resilience, heart, and growth throughout the year.
