The Notre Dame boys team came up one point short in an incredibly close 74–73 loss to Bangor on Tuesday — but not without a string of standout performances that nearly swung the meet.
Alex Clark won in the 100m (10.70), while Andrew Shupe took the 200m (22.70) and ran key legs on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. The 4x100 relay of Clark, Shupe, Kalet Wilson, and Aaron Gordon dominated in 44.20, and the 4x400 (3:34.50) closed the meet on a high note.
Alexander Pirog added a win in the 400m (52.10), while Dante Azzolina took the 800m (2:09.90). Distance standout Emmett Rieland finished second in both the 1600m (4:59.00) and 3200m (11:03.10), with Darek Schaeffer placing third in the 3200m.
In the field, Aaron Gordon won the high jump (5’7") and placed fourth in long jump. Ethan Weems delivered a victory in the shot put (44’3"), and Joshua Scherer was second in discus (102’11"). Jack Kothstein and Duncan Mitchelltree contributed in the javelin with second- and third-place finishes, respectively.
Despite the narrow loss, the boys team’s performance across the board showed the strength and competitiveness of the program heading into the final stretch of the season.
