The Notre Dame baseball team delivered a dominant performance Friday afternoon, defeating Bristol 8-1 in the PIAA State Subregional matchup at DeSales University. Notre Dame’s offense ignited in the second inning, where they plated three runs to seize an early advantage. The momentum continued as they exploded for five more runs in the sixth inning, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Clemente Cintron pitched a complete game gem for the Crusaders, striking out 10 batters while surrendering just one run on six hits. At the plate, Notre Dame tallied eight hits, including extra-base knocks from Jason Frederick, Christian Rivituso, Paul Smith, Austin Casal, and Michael Wachter. Smith’s double and two runs scored helped fuel the Crusaders’ offense, while solid defensive play kept Bristol’s scoring to a minimum.
With this win, Notre Dame advances to face Philadelphia Academy Charter in the first round tomorrow at 3 p.m., once again at DeSales.
