Notre Dame came up just short against Pen Argyl in a closely contested match, falling 3-2 on Tuesday.
In singles play, Nico Guet-Cruza secured a dominant victory at first singles, defeating Blake Boyer (6-3, 6-0). Liam Behrems was forced to forfeit his second singles match due to injury, giving Mason Soos the win (4-1). At third singles, Hunter Skodecek delivered a strong performance, overcoming Hunter Beers (6-2, 6-1) to earn Notre Dame's second point.
Doubles play proved to be the difference in the match. The duo of Nico Braido and Aidan Dalton fell to Evan Frable and Tucker Schneck in a competitive straight-set battle (3-6, 4-6). The second doubles match went the distance, but Gene Behme and Kai’den Engle were edged out by Jacob Oyer and Cole Lobb in three sets (3-6, 6-2, 4-6), sealing the victory for Pen Argyl.
Despite the loss, Notre Dame put up a strong fight and will look to bounce back in their next match today at Wilson.
